Aqaba March 17 The activities of the training workshop project on dealing with plastic pollutants on the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba, which was organized by the Faculty of Basic and Marine Sciences at the University of Jordan, Aqaba Branch. The training workshop came within the framework of a European Union project dealing with marine waste, with the participation of international experts and specialists from Italy, Greece, Spain, Egypt, Tunisia and Lebanon, in addition to Jordan.
The President of the University of Jordan, Aqaba Branch, prof. Ghaleb Abbasi, appreciated the international and local efforts made towards reducing the phenomenon of plastic waste on the environment, especially marine life, stressing the importance of holding such specialized research projects and scientific training workshops in distinct fields.
In turn, the project manager in Jordan, prof. Fouad Al-Hourani from the Faculty of Basic and Marine Sciences at the university, stressed the importance of the project at the national level, announcing that the University of Jordan, Aqaba branch, will host the international closing event of the project at the end of this year, with international participation.
